A483 Dual carriageway works between the A55 and Chester Business Park/Park & Ride roundabout
Work started on 4 August and is scheduled to take 26 weeks. The scheme will provide:-
- A new 7.3 metre wide, two lane carriageway on the west side of the existing road for northbound traffic, with a dedicated left-turn lane for access to the Park & Ride site;
- A dedicated right turning lane for traffic turning into the Holiday Inn, nursery and petrol filling station;
- Retention of the existing carriageway for southbound traffic;
- A new footway/cycleway along the west side of the new carriageway which will extend from the A55 roundabout to Heronsway;
- A new footway/cycleway on the east side of the existing carriageway from the existing footway at Heronsway to the entrance of the Holiday Inn;
- Modifications to the entrance of the Park & Ride site with the provision of traffic light signals on the Heronsway roundabout;
- Improved cycle facilities at the Heronsway roundabout;
- Longer right-turn lane on Heronsway for access to MBNA site; and
- A proposed landscaping scheme to alleviate the removal of existing trees and hedges (scheduled for Spring 2004)
Work commences on 6 January 2003 for a period of 22 weeks (finishing 3 June 2003) at the
junction of the A483 (Wrexham Road) southbound with the A55.
The work will include:-
Widening the existing embankment;
Construction of a new carriageway for a dedicated left turn lane directly onto the A55 eastbound slip road;
Additional street lighting;
New safety fencing;
Additional traffic signage.
There will be a full traffic management programme in place to minimise disruption. Site
traffic will only be permitted to enter/leave between 09.30-15.45 Monday-Saturday.
A temporary 30 mph speed limit will be in place. Three lanes will be maintained on A483
southbound at the entry to the A483/A55 roundabout.
